Digital & PR Officer – Premier Scotland

Reporting to: Senior Digital Manager, Premier Scotland

Contract: Six months fixed term contract with the potential to extend
Hours: 9.30am – 5.30pm (weekdays) with 3 days per week in office in Leith. Occasional out of hours work likely.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate communicator to develop their career in arts and events. We are looking for someone to support the delivery of communication strategies for a range of world-class festivals, venues, theatre companies, dance organisations, exhibitions and film projects, as part of the Premier Scotland team. It is a role which requires both digital and PR knowledge and experience and is for an initial period of 6 months with potential extension.

The successful candidate will feel at home in our fast-paced and dynamic department with a reputation for a top-level client list, strong teamwork and excellent delivery for its clients. There will be opportunities to be directly involved in projects, attend performances and events and get on-the-job training.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a digital marketing (incl. social media), PR or communications role
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and in-person
  • Experience in creating engaging and eye-catching social media content
  • Experience planning and publishing content on social media platforms, incl. Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok
  • Experience with video content capture for Instagram reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts
  • Familiarity with website CMS such as WordPress or Squarespace
  • Photo and video editing skills on Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar
  • A good knowledge of social media trends
  • Experience using Facebook Meta Business Suite
  • A range of press contacts in news, lifestyle, arts and culture media
  • A good understanding of the media and journalism landscape
  • Has delivered small- to mid-level PR campaigns
  • Ability to prioritise workload with many moving parts
  • Ability to brainstorm creative content ideas across social and PR in response to client briefs
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • A keen interest in the arts

Experience in running digital advertising campaigns across social media platforms desirable but not essential

Primary tasks and activities:

Digital:

  • Social media campaign planning
  • Developing and managing client digital content calendars
  • Planning, creating, scheduling and delivering social media posts
  • Cataloguing photo and video content
  • Social media influencer research and engagement
  • Community management via a social media management tool
  • Updating websites
  • Creating asset templates and tone of voice guidelines for clients
  • Tracking and reporting on campaigns
  • Managing and expanding our own in-house digital accounts and platforms
  • Maintaining an active and current knowledge of digital communication trends and developments to benefit our clients and identify new business opportunities

 PR and press:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with media, clients and associates
  • Devising, planning, running and reporting on small and mid-scale press campaigns as allocated by the Director and with their input. This will include press release writing and some media monitoring
  • Working as part of a team on large campaigns, including duties as outlined above.
  • Dealing with requests for images, footage, press information, interviews and press tickets
  • Conceiving and delivering media calls

Other:

  • Live event support and attendance at events as required
  • Some flexibility due to the nature of the work, including travelling for work 
  • Contributing to the smooth running of the Company’s day-to-day business by staying up to date with relevant tools as requested, e.g. Company calendar, media database, SharePoint/OneDrive and so on
  • Occasional request for help with a campaign you are not directly involved in
